It looks like the Autauga County Humane Society (of which I am a member) is really being painted into a corner. As this article by Marty Roney explains, they built a humane shelter using some city and county funding, but they have not been able to negotiate a budget for the operation of that shelter. The tone of the proposal suggests that this is going to be a take it or leave it offer. Being somewhat familiar with the personalities involved on both sides, I don’t doubt that this will be the case.

This negotiation has really gotten out of hand, and I encourage the Humane Society to accept the City’s proposal, with the condition that if it is demonstrated that additional funds are necessary additional funding will be considered.
