Russ N’ Dee - Free Speech Advocates
I’ve found it interesting over the past few months that people have continued to post responses to a very old post about Russ and Dee Fine, morning talk show hosts in Birmingham (radio and simulcast on TV). I have deleted some of the more profane posts, but have been somewhat entertained by the creativity in some of the insults.
Today, I see in one of the comments that the page was mentioned on their show this morning. Evidently they threatened to sue the person who runs the site. I would love to see them try. Not that I want to get into a court battle, but I would just find it hilarious and it would be great publicity for the site. You may notice that the only thing I wrote was the initial post and one comment later on. Everything else was posted by random individuals visiting and revisiting the page.
Has anyone else had a lawsuit threatened against them for comments made on their site?
It also appears that someone may have taken down their official site in retaliation. Does anyone know anything about that?

I don’t know if anyone has had a lawsuit threatened but you might want to ask Charles at ‘Little Green Footballs’. I suspect he’s the most likely of the bloggers to have had that problem.
I know for certain that he’s been accused of all sorts of opinions he doesn’t hold because of comments in his blog.

I can not for the life of me figure out why they advertise their site as being http://www.russndeeonline.com when its actually http://www.voiceofalabama.com…hunh, go figure.
Oh and one last interesting tidbit. Did you realize that they registered the http://www.voiceofalabama.com to Dee’s mother. There is an address listed along with a cellphone number. Just in case someone wants to call and say “hey”

the Old URL for R&D went down due to extreme traffic from their old mindspring hosted site. From what I know, this traffic was due to the hosting of the Nick Berg beheading video.
There was a large bill, and they ended up switching webhosts and got new domains.
Their website was down for a while while they tried to alleviate their problems with Mindspring and the new webhosting server DNS addy had to propagate.

Oh BB, your brightness shines through even through the fog and haze that Russ and Dee spew forth daily. I am completely aware that you can forward domains. But wouldn’t you think that if you advertise as http://www.russndeeonline.com or whatever the idiots spew out as their official website that it would forward or redirect to the site….hmmm…perhaps grandma forgot to pay their bills this month

It behooves me of your neglect to assess what Dee Fine is uttering on your program. She is an embarrassment to the many intelligent women in America. How you allow that babbling idiot to fill the air waves with her ideology of nonsense is beyond me. She is rude, interruptive , and annoying. While I am at it, Why four hours of their B.S. Do you really think your listeners want to hear a married couple disagree on almost every subject Russ try’s to comment on. She, ” Dee Fine ” and her constant babbling of rebellion is that of an uneducated ignorant illiterate, and is the reason I no longer tune to your station. NPR at least has broadcasters with the intellect to communicate.Although I don’t believe a word their saying. However Your listeners who seem to be in their middle fifties or senior citizen age groups, and may I say! are personal friends or acquaints of the Finds are a very shallow audience. Which is leaving you behind in the ability to reach the younger population. It is not a broadcasters right to judge the actions of others, but only to report them and allow the listener to draw his or her own conclusion on said report. I listen to Russ and Dee in the morning because it gets me so mad that I start my day running. But, as soon as Air America is available on my radio instead of just my computer, they will be gone the way of the dodo. Sadly, there is no place on my radio dial for a Liberal woman to find intelligent discourse, as yet, and I have nothing to look forward to in the next four years except more Bush-sponsored, grinding poverty. Let’s repeal the 22nd Amendment and bring back Clinton!!!

YEs, I wrote an angry but not profane email to them to protest their stupid boycott of Aruba and their exploitation of the tragedy for their own personal fame.
Russ replied,accusing me of drug and porn use, being an idiot, etc, and threatening to sic his “yard dog” attorneys on to me and sue me, inflict a world of hurt, etc.
I’m an attorney so his threats were amusing to me. I **was** surprised to get such a psychotic (and ANGRY) reply though.
I’ve never seen/heard their show, I imagine it is worthless, but I saw Dede
on Fox (where else?) exploiting the arbua tragedy and trying to whip up some mindless xenophobia.

I am a Hispanic, I was born in West Texas so were my parents and my grandparents. As far as I know I have no relatives in Mexico. My point is that since all this about illegal aliens, I feel the pressure; people are so ready to judge just because of color. I flew from Dallas to Huntsville, AL and white men did not want to be near me. One, for instance, as soon as I sat down a seat between us, got up and left. He would rather stand than sit with a seat between us. On the plane, the white guy I had to share seats with, made sure he had the arm rest to himself and he did not share not one kind word. I gave him a smile and he made sure he did not have any eye contact with me. Not just because my skin is brown means that I am automatically from South America, give us a break!!! By the way I listen to your program daily and I really enjoy it. Thanks for being there and so honest about the every day life happenings.

Yes they sue a lot or threaten too. Yet they are harmless infomercial hosts. The ad time out airs the talk time and everything they advertise is rip off mortage deals a quack and what ever landscaping kickback deal they can broker with a contractor.

Were you born in this country? If not, you do not understand why we take the kind of pride and respect for this great country that we do. My father did not come from another country nor did my gparents nor my ggparents. Also my father fought for this country was a prisoner of war for two years. So that immigrants like your family could live in our country free and safe. If you are legal, and respected the laws of this country welcome, but if you slide like a thief in the night to steal into this country and not obey the laws of this land, take benefits that you are not entitled to, that is stealing. That is illegal if you are not from here that makes you an alien. That is why we will not be over run by people that should be in their country fighting for their rights instead coming here and trying to take mine. Here’s a perfect example of just who Russ and Dee are: Harold Ruttenberg (Just For Feet owner) was a pretty low life SOB. It was well known how disgusting he was. I know for a fact he had a very detailed “kick back” system going on with his advertiser to boost his quarterly earnings. He would go into other cities and markets and make huge threats intimidating locally own shoe and apparel retailers until they would sell out to him or lose their battle due to their inability to match his advertising dollars. But what really defines him is what I saw one day at his Century Plaza store. A very young black boy fell on one of the fixtures and cut himself very badly. Well, instead of going to the boys aid, he shoved the boy out in the mall and cursed “don’t get any blood on my damn shirts!” It was one of the most unbelievable low life scum things I’ve ever seen. I say all of that to say this: Harold was a huge advertiser on Russ and Dee’s show. To hear them tell it, Harold was the salt of the earth..and then turn around and completely drag some poor caller through the mud. In order to get into their good graces, you must put forth thousands of dollars in advertising..then your a “great man” when clearly you are not..do they actually care how scummy you are if you have a check for them? ..I guess not. But if you simply disagree with these fools, you are..and I quote: “a coward and I relish the thought of your thousand deaths … because
that is the fate of the coward.” I’m not kidding..that’s an actual response I got from Russ when I questioned his reasoning on his alarmist rantings. Really great people these Fines.

I am currently being threatened by the Fines for my opinions. I don’t take it seriously, but the very idea that two public figures can’t take criticism is interesting. When I leveled my criticism at Dee the first this she shoved back in my face was how much more wealthy she is and that “she could buy and sell me twice over.” Nice, huh? These two hacks have bullied their way over our radio here in bham for way too long. Now I’m no supporter of Bob Reilly, but back when he was running for Governor these two launched into the worst slanderous bunch of lies I’ve ever heard from supposedly thinking people. I didn’t like Reilly because he never showed up for work as a congressman. That may be an overstatement but I’m not a Reilly supporter but what I like even less is ignorant, loud, shrill radio. Russ loves to call people up who don’t like him and embarrass them on the air. That’s a sleeze-ball tactic. Russ and Dee are the type of people that have to be right and if you disagree then they will embarrass you. They did this to a friend of mine not too long ago and I’ve been hacked ever since. Now, I would be worried that that may tip them off to just who I am, but they do it so much that it could be anybody. So, every chance I get I jab them mainly because they just fall apart trying to have the last word and freaking out because they can’t use their bully pulpit to smear. Just my little way of bugging them.

Thanks Kristohpher.. I see that you’re right. I did a Google on them and out of about 20 hits, only two had anything nice to say about them. It appears that Russ is a bit of a racist. I guess I should just let it go. I have to tell you I was there the day my friend got an ambush call from these hacks. I had no idea who they even were. He was asleep and I handed him the phone because they made it out like he had won something or something.. Then they ambushed him with all this stuff about Bob Reilly. This guy was my room mate and had a family member who knew the governor or was a relative or something, I can’t remember. But I do remember they didn’t ask his permission to be put on the air and they went straight on and started with all of these accusations. Now, this guy couldn’t be less of a political follower, but because he had some connection to Reilly they pounded at him for the whole segment and really made a fool out of him and he was just kind of sitting there in disbelief as was I. How did they get the number? How did they know this guy? It was like a mafia hit except it was character assassination right there on the air. He called the station manager and he (the manager) couldn’t stop apologizing. He called them in and put everybody on speaker phone and made them apologize. This was when they were at Crawford. I was listening and Dee kept refusing and said she was going to use the recorded ambush as a promo for there show until the manager got pretty heated and asked if they had ask permission to go to air with him and Dee chimed in and just lied and said yes while Russ was clearly nervous about answering the question and before he could think about his answer the manager interrupted and said nobody is going to make a promo out of anything and to drop it. He asked my room mate if they would apologize and drop this issue would he be happy and he said yes..and it was dropped. Ever since I’ve had a hatred for these two. So there it is.. -blit

I have watched as mostly illegals have taken jobs away from legal americans.when the work force has changed from the families that have been in the same trade for generations are gone because they cant compete.Alot of builders would rather save adollar for cheeper labor.Most hispanics are hard workers no doubt but their skill level is sub-par for the most part.If my comments make me a racist to you thats fine with me.Do you think its fine for illegals to get garanteed homr and auto loans because of the color of their skin. No, Mr.Jones, I don’t and that may surprise you. I never said anything about illegals. I do not support illegals, period. If illegal labor is what you’re referring to then I agree. I don’t agree that just because a person is born a Hispanic that they are automatically sub-par workers. That’s my point. However, this is not my problem with Russ and Dee. I’ve seen their mean and disgusting side. I’ve seen how they operate. They have been let go from every station they’ve had a show on because of their tactics. During the governor’s race they attacked so many people that did not deserve it. They had an open “hatred” for Reily. I don’t care for the guy either, but you don’t go after people like they did in the infantile manner they did with the goal of smearing them publicly. I’ve seen first hand how they act off the air and on a conference call. I’ve seen how their own boss had to deal with them while they were on a tirade. They are not worthy of the praise people give them. They are mean and despicable. And they have all of you fooled. That’s unfortunate, and I will continue to show my disgust for them. blit,I do not think because aperson is of hispanic descent he is sub-par.I have a legal drywall contractor who is the best their is.The real problem is with contractors who hire illegals to save a buck.We probably agree on most things.I know R&D (MOSTLY DEE)act like a-holes from time to time.I dis-like Dee’s bad attitude toward volunteer firemen personally,but until something better comes along to fight the illegal alien issue,I must support them onthis issue.I feel as strongly about the issue as they do.I also know of many people they have helped when no one else would.when they called your friend like that it was not fair at all.They probably did it for ratings,which I understand are very high.I guess I am scared of what our country will be like if something is not done quick.The Fine’s are n ot perfect but they speek their minds and I agree with alot of what they say.

I will be in Hoover at the corner of Lorna and Patton Chapel Road with my mexican brothers and sisters, so if you see me remember I am broke, lost my job, and Dee needs more silicon soon.

Happy days are here again!!! On 9/25/06 someone with a brain gave the phony Fines the door. Yep you heard right! Russ and Dee are no longer on the air. According to their website they are blaming the masons of Alabama, Riley, the president and last but not least, the toothfairy. I am assuming Russ must think she is gay. The fact of the matter is people and finally WYDE got sick of all the hatred and lies these two idiots spew each and everyday. When people try to promote harmony, they inject hatred. They have no one but themselfs to blame for being fired. Now WYDE needs to extend those firings even further. Next to go should be that back woods mutant monkey man who calls himself Lee Davis. He sounds like Ernest T. Bass on crack. Republican this, republican this. No doubt buys chapstick by the truck load for all the republican butt kissing. After Goober should be that other useless sack of crap, Fat Matt Murphy. A opinion on everything, and expert on nothing. Knows everything about everything. His experience? Well, I don’t understand. Isn’t this what free speech is all about? Can’t they say what they want? If they’re being sued, it’s a civil matter. If you don’t like the Fines, change the station (that is if they ever get back on the air).
I do agree about Lee Davis, he is Mr. Republican and most of us can see through his crap.
