How dare the Jefferson County Commission exercise what little authority it is given to raise taxes! How dare they try to provide decent schools for their citizens! We must put a stop to it!

This seems to be the attitude of the Alabama Legislature. We give you a little bit of authority and you run off and use it. Shame on you! This would be so outrageous anywhere else in the country, but in Alabama it makes perfect sense. Because the legislature decides what authority local governments have and can just as easily take it away. We need a new constitution so badly many citizens can’t stand it anymore. Beyond that, we desperately need new blood in the Alabama Legislature. People who support changing this broken system.
