Iraq: Mission Accomplished

The Washington Post reports this morning:

The United States no longer expects to see a model new democracy, a self-supporting oil industry or a society in which the majority of people are free from serious security or economic challenges, U.S. officials say.

Well, that’s certainly worth the price don’t you think?

**UPDATE: While I agree with the bulk of James Joyner’s take on this report, what’s important to remember is that this kind of thoughtful explanation was not offered at the outset of the war and was not how it was sold to the American public.
