The head of a taskforce looking at prison issues believes the Governor will call a special session on the issue this year. The Governor’s Office seems convinced that special sessions are more efficient than the regular session to conduct the people’s business, and recent evidence would seem to indicate this is the case. However, the first time they call one and something is not accomplished, it will be deemed a giant waste of taxpayer dollars. It’s a fine line to walk. Especially, when you are talking about calling a session just a couple of months before the regular session begins.
