The other justices on the Alabama Supreme Court are so afraid of Tom Parker being elected Chief Justice, they’re throwing protocol to the wind. Good for them. If Roy Moore is off his rocker, Tom Parker couldn’t find the rocker if he was sitting on it. He’s incompetent and lazy, not qualities that should be desirable in a Chief Justice.

There is no doubt that Montgomery Mall has been neglected. The degree to which new ownership could help is certainly open to question. Personally, I think the site may be too far gone to save. It would certainly take a creative and committed company to do the job.

Senator Sessions and failure, two words that just go together.

Alabama gets another failing grade. This time for our inability to fight prostate cancer.

The kind of lead Alabama Governor Bob Riley now holds in the polls should not make him complacent. Roy Moore will put better numbers in the actual vote than he is in the polls, make no mistake. Riley might get close to 60 percent of the vote, but no more. He might even drop below 55%.
Moore supporters are not likely to reveal their true colors to pollsters and they will turn out on election day. Riley supporters should not allow the polls to make them drift into complacency about the primary. I would strongly encourage those who strongly oppose Roy Moore to vote in the Republican primary and ensure his defeat long before we get to November.

Now that his approval ratings are in the toilet, Natalie thinks it’s okay to back off from her previous apology for remarks about President Bush. She really should grow a backbone. Everyone knew she didn’t really want to apologize before, but why make that obvious now that it’s not quite as unpopular to say so?
It’s not that we aren’t on the same side when it comes to the President, but it would be nice to stand next to people with some integrity left.

Roy Johnson can’t get away with saying he didn’t know about this situation. It was certainly his son-in-law’s responsibility to inform him of the contracts, but he can’t just abdicate any responsibility either.

Well, if they’re open to it, let’s get it done. Moore will stick his foot in his mouth and close the book on this primary. On to the general election!

Child abuse and neglect is an extremely serious issue and is just one of many societal problems that have significant contribution from drug use. I have certainly never advocated that the current laws are adequate, nor have I advocated strongly for legalization. But what my libertarian friends have yet to understand is that these “personal liberties” they always talk about have significant effects on the lives of all citizens. No one has the right to abuse or neglect a child and if that abuse or neglect often is coming from abuse of mind-altering substances, it’s something the government should be addressing.

Alabama welcomed Taylor Hicks, of American Idol fame, back to his home state yesterday. I am a big fan of Taylor’s and found out recently that a close friend has known him since the day he was brought home from the hospital. Fame is fleeting, but talent can take you a long way. I hope we see another Idol from Alabama, and I have little doubt that if it’s not Taylor there are others waiting in line to show their stuff.

Alabama Secretary of State Nancy Worley is being challenged once again by her subordinate and primary election opponent Ed Packard. Mr. Packard is going to get credit in a lot of circles, just for bringing attention to the violations that Ms. Worley has made a habit during her tenure.
