Bravo to the Montgomery Advertiser for bringing this story the attention it deserves. Jimmy Stubbs illustrates exactly what the real issues are in the debate over same-sex marriage. It has nothing to do with what is right or wrong, or legal or illegal. It has to do with what one segment of the population just can’t get comfortable with…and that’s no way for a society of laws to function. Mr. Stubbs had no legal right to refuse marriage to this couple, but he did it anyway. Yet, I imagine Mr. Stubbs would strongly disapprove of others flouting the law by issuing licenses to same-sex couples. What’s the difference Mr. Stubbs?
