Purdue couldn’t keep it’s winning streak going against the Irish. Losses are always tough, but the Boilers still have the opportunity to run the table in the conference.

Don’t celebrate too much, I don’t think Russ and Dee Fine have actually left this life yet. However, we can celebrate the fact that these piles of hate are no longer on the air. It is odd that I can find no online acknowledgement of the fact, but they are no longer listed on the schedule on their own station’s website and I have received confirmation that it was reported in the print edition of the Birmingham News.
For those of you that don’t know, one of my posts is one of the most popular search engine results for Russ and Dee and they spent some time attacking the commenters who posted their feelings about the radio hosts, and also attacked me. When I contacted their producer and offered to speak with the Fines when they threatened to sue me (which I didn’t take seriously), I was told it was all publicity and I should be thankful for them as they are thankful for me. I am simply thankful they are gone from the airwaves…for now.

I’d bet good money that Yvonne Kennedy will not be forced out at Bishop State College by the end of the month. As slow as these kinds of things tend to move, I’d be shocked if she’s forced out by the end of the year. Put your money where your mouth is Ms. Bell.

Brutal attacks can happen anywhere, but no one is used to hearing about this kind of thing in Millbrook. I hope they are able to find the perpetrator and fast.

Mitt Romney is playing coy, but his friends know better. Senator Shelby did the announcing for Romney, he thinks he’s a presidential candidate, which means he most certainly is.

My quick takes on the top search requests at Google News>
**Shaun Micheel: You beat Tiger Woods in match play, you deserve a little play in the press.
**Frederik Reinfeldt: Big victory for the moderate party leader in Sweeden.
**Willie Nelson: Willie Nelson smokes pot? And he had just left a concert in Montgomery, Alabama when he was busted.
**Gridiron Gang: The Rock, number one at the box office.

It’s hard to overstate how important this ferry is to the people of Lowndes County. This day has been a long time coming. I just hope it can continue to operate well into the future.

Prescription drug abuse is a serious issue and just goes to show that even if we were able to eliminate all illegal drugs from crossing our borders, we would still have a great deal of substance abuse to address. This doesn’t mean that fighting substance abuse is hopeless, just that it requires a much more comprehensive approach than we have been able to mount at the national level.

Purdue survived their second test of the season in Ball State. The game wasn’t as close as the score appears. Ball State punched in two meaningless scores in the last seven minutes to make it look respectable. The first Big Ten game is next week on the deuce (ESPN2). We’ll start to see what kind of team the Boilers are then.

Governor Riley unveiled a new “God Bless America” car tag that can be acquired for no extra fee. I continue to be amazed by the things our politicians put importance on. With all the world’s events and all the needs of this state a license plate with a trite saying deserves a legislative act and a press conference. Are you kidding me?
By the way, may God (Yahweh, Allah, Buddha, the Creator, etc.) bless the people of all nations.
