Riley Believes in Smacking People Too

The Governor of the Great State of Alabama supports legislators who beat each other on the floor. I’m in agreement with Dan, we should all immediately adopt this policy, (just as so many followed President Clinton’s definition of adultery) and we will have a better state for it. One citizen popping another upside the head because we don’t care for what we thought we heard them say (remember, no one heard Sen. Barron say what Sen. Bishop believes he said).

Expulsion

There is no doubt in my mind that Charles Bishop should be recommended for expulsion from the Alabama Senate. Whether or not he believes there will be enough votes to make it so, I believe every senator should go on the record as to whether they believe this is acceptable behavior on the floor and have it mean something.

UPDATE: Dan at Between the Links believes we might be able to work out a way to get them both tossed.

2nd Homicide of the Year for Prattville

Prattville has experienced it’s 3rd and 4th slayings since 2002, within one week of each other. This one is particularly concerning because of the nature and the location. I hope the police are able to figure out who is responsible, because this kind of crime is exactly what many citizens feel with come with more growth.

Tyson presses Gonzales for Grant Funds

While Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was hiding out in Alabama, talking about his concern for children, Mobile DA (and the man who should have been State Attorney General) John Tyson decided to take advantage and push the grant application he submitted to fund an expansion of his successful prevention program for truant youth. I admire Mr. Tyson greatly for his efforts and believe if his strategies were adopted more broadly across the state we would see big improvements in many crime and delinquency indicators.
