Gee’s Bend Finally Comes to the 21st Century

The little town of Gee’s Bend, Alabama in Lowndes County that came to national prominence because of the amazing quilts it’s citizens produced has finally been brought into the 21st century. They are suing the people who were responsible for bringing them to national attention over the copyrights on their work. It’s a really sad story.

State Board of Education bans High-Cal Drinks

Bravo to the Alabama State Board of Education for making us only the second state in the nation (after Mississippi) to ban high-calorie drinks from our schools. This is a smart move and the right choice for our students. It’s nice to be progressive every once in a while.
