As a state employee, I would agree with this writer, however the way the state policy is written you get the per diem for the day you leave and the day you come back. If state employees were willing to change the policy to a per night rate, I would be fine with this. He neglects to inform people this would have equated to $250 for a one night overnight trip, which is outrageous and $375 for a two night overnight trip, which isn’t much better.
