Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is coming back to Alabama on Monday, with opportunities for small donation supporters, as well as big ticket supporters to see the candidate. Rep. Artur Davis (D-AL) is helping to get things organized and will introduce Obama at the downtown Birmingham Sheraton Hotel event.

A school in Dekalb County Alabama expects to have a hispanic majority when school begins in the fall. The conservatives will have a field day with this one…I hope the school is still standing when the school year starts.
For me, it’s not really a news story, but a good chance for people to start discussing the real issues that underly the so-called immigration debate. The immigration debate is not really about immigration, it’s about hispanics and people’s fear and ignorance of our latino population. Let’s talk about the real issue and stop making it about “immigration”.

I have a bit of a problem with this story that ran in the paper this morning. The headline reads as if there were home invasions in both cities this week, however, the incident in Millbrook occurred over a week ago. While it’s important for the article to mention both, I think the headline could have been made to read a little less alarmingly and more truthfully.
