Boy Dies, Hung from Swingset in Millbrook

This is a truly frightening scene that police were called in on last night:

Millbrook police are investigating the Thursday night death of a 12-year-old boy, found hanging by a leash from his backyard swing set
Police received a call about 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the 2900 block of Ingelbrook Avenue, said assistant chief P.K. Johnson.
One of the boy’s parents found the boy in the backyard hanging from the swing set by a leash around his neck.

I hope the situation surrounding this boy’s death is illuminated quickly.

AND forgive me if I don’t take the statement that the police don’t believe foul play was involved at face value. We’re still waiting for resolution on several gruesome deaths in Montgomery and Prattville, in which officials indicated they did not think they were random acts. They can’t just use that kind of statement as a universal cover for “we don’t know”.

Ah…the “If it Just Saves One” Approach

This kind of stuff makes my blood boil:

Just the testimonies of these teens in the article is strong proof that it works. I have a teen who has been sent to alternative school twice and I personally think there’s very little impact from that type of disciplinary action.

We all hope that as parents we can solve any and all problems that arise, but sad as it might seem, we can’t. Maybe if they can see for themselves what’s really out there they might not be so quick to run out that door. They just might see how easy they really have it.

If this program changes one child, then I would call it a success.

2 accused of casting false absentee ballots in Alabama House race

It’s always good to see these cases pursued, even when they had no demonstrable effect on the outcome:

Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson Jr. announced charges against Darren Lee Flott, 42, who ran in a 2006 race in House District 98, and Angie Corine Green, 49, also known as Angela Green.

The indictment lists 53 felony counts in a scheme to cast false absentee ballots bearing the names of Eight Mile Nursing Home patients described by authorities as comatose or incompetent.

Lots of action with Cindy Sheehan in Town

Cindy Sheehan’s visit to Montgomery certainly caused some fireworks in the press, but only about 30 people showed for the protest and I’m not sure what impact she really had in coming here.
