Another Arcane Law in Alabama: Tax Stamps for Illicit Drugs
When you do a little digging in Alabama, you can always come up with bizarre laws:
Watch out if you deal drugs in Alabama: The state tax man may be coming with his hand out.
Alabama is one of 20 states that issue stamps to tax illegal drugs.
Drug dealers are required to affix the stamp to the products they sell, or face prison time and a hefty tax levy.
The stamps are mainly bought by stamp collectors and the law is used to tack additional prison time onto drug prosecutions.
Schools Progress Reported Today
Today is the day when schools all over the state of Alabama find out if they met the standards for Adequate Yearly Progress and parents find out whether they are able to transfer their students out of a particular “poor-performing” school. Always a nerve-racking day for schools and for parents as well.
