Shelby Blocks Darfur Bill that Passed House 418-1

Once again…reason for Alabamians to be proud:

Senate Democrats attempted just before recess to fast-track a Darfur divestment bill overwhelmingly approved in the House, but Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) objected on behalf of several anonymous GOP senators, according to advocates supporting the bill.

This bill passed the U.S. House 418-1, but was stopped by our glorious Sen. Shelby. And so the long wait for pressure to be increased on the government in Khartoum continues…
