Simmons Gets Endorsement from Police Group

Scott Simmons got a leg up in his challenge to be mayor of Montgomery by an endorsement from the Police Benevolent Association. This certainly lends to his credibility as a challenger and shows that he does have support in the community.

Guidance Counselor Setting Fine Example in Elba

It’s truly stunning when educators, a guidance counselor even, set such a poor example for youth. What I really want to follow is what punishment she receives. I guarantee she will keep her job, though there is no reason why she should. This statement should outrage parents in Elba,

Lynn Baker works as a guidance counselor in the Elba City Schools. Superintendent Danny Weeks said Baker has been placed on administrative leave and that he is reviewing the case and its circumstances to determine what disciplinary action she will face. Weeks said the fact that because Baker was not charged with purchasing alcohol for the minors may be a mitigating factor.

Oh, she didn’t PURCHASE the alcohol for the 15 and 16 year olds, so that makes it better?

No Discounted Insurance for State Senators

I applaud the State Employees Insurance Board for not granting the state senators request for cheaper insurance. In a year when they got a big raise, I just don’t see why we should be granting this as well.
