More Legislators Who Get Special Treatment in Two-Year System

Brett Blackledge at the Birmingham News continues to dig and he continues to find ugly things. This time, the target is Rep. Laura Hall (who I actually think quite highly of as a legislator, but this information is not good).

Some years the total time she reported for work, paid leave and holidays didn’t add up to the required 2,080 hours, meaning she never made up for work days missed while attending to her legislative duties. Other years she reported working hundreds of hours more than the required 2,080, based largely on claiming more than 40 hours a week of college work while she was attending the legislative session in Montgomery.

She reported working in her college office on some days, but documented taking personal or annual leave on those same days in separate college records.

Some days she reported working as many as 12 hours at the college on days she was paid as a legislator to attend the House session in Montgomery.
