Franny Took Her Stupid Pill…

I hope you have a secure bunker at your house…

Two days before the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, President Bush’s domestic security adviser dismissed Al Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden as “virtually impotent.”

Frances F. Townsend made her comments three days after a new video recording of bin Laden appeared, with the terrorist leader comparing the Iraq war to Vietnam and praising the actions of the 19 airline hijackers who caused the deaths of almost 3,000 people on Sept. 11, 2001.

We have yet to capture him, and HE’S the one whose impotent?

Alabama Lawmakers Encouraged by Iraq Report

I listened to the testimony of General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker yesterday and I understand that people are going to hear what they want to hear in the testimony. That was certainly true of the Alabama congressional delegation.

This gem made me smile.

Rep. Terry Everett, R-Rehobeth, supported Petraeus’ recommendation and said he would call for withdrawal “when our generals tell us it’s time to do it.”

“We have to defeat terrorism, and it’s not going to be an easy job,” he said.

As one representative pointed out during the hearing, not once was the war on terrorism mentioned in the prepared testimony of the two witnesses. That should tell us everything we need to know about how much Iraq has to do with the so-called “War on Terror”. And Rep. Everett, how exactly do you defeat a tactic anyway?

Pike Road Continues to Annex

While their annexation of the Home Depot on Chantilly Parkway is still in doubt, the Pike Road Town Council continued to gobble up property at last night’s’ regular meeting. I think it’s a positive development for the town, but the PR may be starting to become a problem.
