Alabama is back in the New York Times due to the testimony by Jill Simpson that was released in transcript form yesterday. The case is certainly coming to a head and the congressional hearings next week will shine a very bright spotlight on everyone involved.

Congratulations to Howard Bayless, who won election to the Birmingham School Board on Tuesday. He is the first openly gay man elected to a public office in Alabama, and he won’t be the last.

Sean Reilly has an interesting piece this morning on the continuing swallowing of resources by the oldest among us, while children continue to fall behind. I think it is a valid point to make and something that needs to be discussed as this will only get worse if we ignore it. At the same time that seniors need help with their healthcare, we have children in the same predicament and we need to provide assistance to both.
