The New South Coalition in Alabama will give its presidential primary endorsement this weekend, and the race is wide open. The way Barack Obama’s candidacy has played out here has been extremely interesting, with many prominent African-Americans in the state openly stating they don’t believe Obama has a chance to win because of his race. It isn’t sad that they are supporting other candidates, but it is truly saddening if that is the only reason.
