Morgan Burke is In It Deep

Morgan Burke, Purdue’s Athletic Director, may have just cost himself an entire football coaching staff and possibly even his own job. It seems Morgan thought it would be a good idea to hire a consultant to find the coach to succeed his current one, Joe Tiller (whose under contract until the 2010 season), without informing Tiller until after they identified the guy.

Now Tiller is considering retiring and his whole staff may go with him…

If that happens, Burke’s head should be on the chopping block.

Confidence Isn’t a Bad Thing…

…unless it comes off as arrogance. Calling anything a lock in this presidential race is a bit premature.

“Barack Obama is going to be the nominee, and it’s a chance for Alabama to be on the right side of history and the right side of this race,” said Davis, who chairs Obama’s campaign in the state, during a conference call with state reporters a day after Obama won the Iowa Democratic caucus.

“I think Barack Obama will get 60 percent of the vote in the primary in the state of Alabama, and
that will be the day he wins the nomination.”

This race isn’t over and I hope nobody in the Obama camp thinks it’s anywhere close to that. Clinton is going to come back hard and Obama will have to withstand the assault.

Obama in Alabama Rumors

The headline in the Huntsville Times is that we won’t be seeing any of the presidential candidates prior to our primary on February 5th, but then there is this quote:

“We keep hearing rumors that Obama is coming into the state,” said Nancy Worley, vice chairwoman of the Alabama Democratic Party. “But I don’t think anything is in concrete at this point on any of the candidates.”

I actually would be quite surprised if we don’t see Sen. Obama for a brief stop. I believe he will try to hit all of the Feb. 5th states.

We likely won’t seecandidates in state- al.com
