I apologize for being a little behind the curve on Senator Obama’s preacher, but I must say that from what I have seen, Brian (linked below) is absolutely right. This is extremely damaging to Obama’s white support (which was finally starting to grow). Clinton’s campaign has been waiting for the opportunity to cast Obama as the angry black man and have finally found the avenue to do it, through the preacher of his church.

This is the story that will turn the tide to Clinton. He will get stomped in Pennsylvania and likely even Indiana…possibly even North Carolina…and maybe he should. As a white supporter of Senator Obama since before Iowa…I’m hurt by what I have seen and heard from his preacher, the one who married he and his wife, the one who baptized his children.

UPDATE: Julie at Left in Alabama has the opposing view point, which I don’t find nearly as compelling as Brian (who I normally disagree with). The question she doesn’t answer is why, if Obama is the man we believe him to be, he would decide to continue to be a part of this church. There is no indication this was an isolated sermon, it was more than that.
