These people all have other jobs, and almost all of them have insurance (in fact, I’d be interested to know if any of them don’t). They just want the state to pick up the tab.
A Senate committee approved a bill that would allow the lieutenant governor and the 140 members of the Legislature to become members of the State Employees Health Insurance Plan.

Those who voted for the insurance plan, all Democrats, were: Sens. Roger Bedford of Russellville, Kim Benefield of Woodland, Parker Griffith of Huntsville, Pat Lindsey of Butler, Wendell Mitchell of Luverne, W.B. McClain of Midfield, Hank Sanders of Selma and Bobby Singleton of Greensboro.
Those opposed were Sens. Rusty Glover, R-Semmes; Steve French, R-Birmingham; Hinton Mitchem, D-Union Grove; Arthur Orr, R-Decatur; and Trip Pittman, R-Daphne.’
