So now we have yet another attempt at guilt by association…Obama’s half-aunt on his father’s side allegedly had a request for asylum rejected four years ago, yet remains in the country. As stated in the AP coverage of this, it amounts to an administrative, non-criminal violation of immigration law.
She was fleeing a country that was in the midst of serious turmoil…so we can debate the merits of her case for asylum, or the resources available to the INS to deal with those who disobey court orders, but what does any of that have to do with Obama as president?
Can McCain supporters stop talking about these sideshows and come up with a positive argument for why he should be president? Apparently not.
And as for Brian’s statement that Obama “can’t even keep his own family from coming here illegally”.
A. She came here legally, she just hasn’t left.
B. When has anyone been able to control the actions of close relatives, let alone more distant ones?
I’m not excusing the aunt’s behavior, but it doesn’t tell us anything useful about Barack Obama, it’s simply noise.
