Congressional Quarterly asks the question this morning that we have all been asking within the state. Is this the year for Democrats to take back the governor’s mansion?
Annie Johnson does a nice job of laying out the argument that says, no…
The Alabama GOP has won five U.S. Senate races in a row; five of the past six contests for governor, including term-limited incumbent Bob Riley’s wins in 2002 and 2006; and eight consecutive presidential elections, including John McCain ’s 60 percent to 39 percent win over Democrat Barack Obama in 2008.
She then goes on to describe the lack of clarity on the Republican side. What’s shocking about her piece isn’t she doesn’t even mention the MOST likely nominee, in my opinion (and the opinion of many others I have talked to)…Bradley Byrne.
We just keep on rolling and watching every day for new pieces of news…
