Sue Bell Cobb and Susan Parker certainly would have pulled a number of voters away from Davis...not sure there are any candidates left who would fit that bill. In 2008 AL presidential primary <a href="http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/index.html#ALDEM" rel="nofollow">over 80% of blacks voted for Obama over Clinton</a>. Davis will get those votes. If the ABAD folks wanted to stop him then further fragmenting the white vote would be counterproductive. They have to fragment the black vote if they want to stop Davis. Racial politics is ugly, but one can't ignore the exit polling from the Clinton/Obama primary in AL and pretend being black doesn't help Davis in the primary, but hurt him in general.
