Kristopher – Editor and Publisher

I was born and educated in Indiana. My degree is in political science (with a specialization in public policy and public administration) from Purdue University (Go Boilermakers!) and I moved to Alabama right after college. After living here for a decade, I have been extremely fortunate to have spent time with and gotten to know political, community and business leaders in every part of this great state.

I started The World Around You in 2003 because I wanted to have an outlet to discuss my passion.  I also bring a strong background in understanding the web, data collection and analysis and thoroughly enjoy bringing that element to what I do here.  I know how the state government works (and doesn’t work) and I know many of the players. 

We have a long way to go in creating a more open government and one that is responsive to its citizens, but I want to do what I can to help make that become reality.  I’ve become extremely excited by the opportunities presented with new social media tools that are available and what that can do for candidates, officeholders and those they serve.  The tools may go in and out of fashion, but the direct connection they can provide to constituents and voters will never go out of style.
