Roy Weighs in on “Facing the Giants” in a Public School   Comments

Anytime Roy Moore thinks something is a good idea, I am extremely skeptical. Once again, he’s on the wrong side of a debate.

I’ve seen “Facing the Giants”, I attended a showing at my church. It is most certainly a Christian film and is billed as nothing less. It is not appropriate for a school setting and the high school in Huntsville crossed the line in showing it.

The point is not that “most people in Tuscaloosa are Christian”, the point is would you afford the same courtesy to a movie that was attempting to convert people to Hinduism or Buddhism and the answer to that is likely an emphatic “No”.

Roy Moore says he hasn’t considered Alabama Supreme Court race   Comments

Who is encouraging this maniac? They need to be stopped. The guy belongs nowhere near an elected office. How many times does he need to demonstrate that for you?

Just Keeps Getting Better…   Comments

I wrote yesterday about the social conservatives (led by Dr. James “Goober” Dobson) threatening to abandon ship if Rudy Giuliani is the nominee. And now,

I just got off the phone with a senior conservative consultant who has spent the morning working the phones to social conservative leaders who have pledged not to support a Rudy Giuliani candidacy, should he win the GOP nomination.

According to my source, these conservative leaders have narrowed the field of alternatives.

I’m told that former AL Chief Justice Roy Moore will be the first choice if Rudy is the nominee (there were rumblings about him in ‘04, but he was talked out of it to run for governor).

Yes, Roy may be back, and on the national stage. I couldn’t be more excited!

Of course the blog entry then goes on to say Moore’s name was never mentioned…but we can ignore the facts and get excited about the possibilities right now…it’s just too good to be true, and probably is.

UPDATE: CBS went with calling it a “Moore-like candidate” instead of reporting he is being drafted. Good approach.

“Values Voter” Debate Held to Little Fanfare   Comments

Well, the “Value Voter Debate” is over and there was the expected idiotic question from Roy Moore:

Do you support the NAFTA Superhighway presently under construction from Mexico to Canada, portions of which shall be under foreign control?

The only problem with this question is…there IS NO NAFTA SUPERHIGHWAY! Although, Ron Paul apparently joins Roy Moore in believing and perpetuating the myth. I wonder if this was a signal from Moore to Paul that he is “his man”…

Moore Supporter Dead   Comments

Ol’ Roy is all over the news today. The head of Coral Ridge Ministries and a strong Roy Moore supporter, James Kennedy, has passed away.

Roy!   Comments

I join Mac in welcoming Roy Moore back to the national stage (sort of) as a panelist for the “Values Voter Presidential Debate”. I too expect him to ask a detailed question that no candidate will be able to follow.

Roy Moore Challenges Ruth Bader Ginsburg   Comments

If you need a good laugh this morning, check out the opinion piece by disgraced former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore in the Washington Times.

Roy Moore in Missouri   Comments

The report was biased right off the bat, by indicating that Roy lost his job for supporting the Ten Commandments…talk about buying the party line.

Roy Moore Featured in New Book   Comments

The Guardian newspaper has an interesting excerpt from a new book today about one man’s journey through the bible belt. Today’s selection features Alabama’s own Roy Moore:

He might not know England but he knew where it was going, with the US following in the same direction. I asked him whether he really believed America was heading for perdition. “That’s it. We’re going the same way England is now, without God. Read Blackstone: there is no law without God, no truth without God. America is watching Alabama in this and the world is watching America. The truth will spread.”

Sitting in Alabama, where nine out of 10 inhabitants call themselves Christians, where half are Baptists and where just 1% of the population belong to non-Christian faiths, here was the judge telling me he was living in a godless country.

A quick burst from the Epistle to the Romans followed and then there came a rumination: “I am not running because of ambition: I am running to serve the will of God. If he judges that is not the place I serve him, well, I will probably be happy.” There was a pause before he corrected himself: “I will be happy.”

I’m glad the people of Alabama made Roy happy. I hope even more that he will be happy not to serve ever again.

Roy Moore IN “Fargo”   Comments

Roy Moore stuck his head out from under a rock yesterday to comment on a ten commandments monument in Fargo, ND. I question whether Roy knows where Fargo is, but it doesn’t really matter to him, if there’s a monument, he’ll talk about it.
