World Series Game 1 Tonight at 8pm EST

Game 1 of the World Series is tonight on Fox…the Rays and the Phillies, looking forward to a great game.

GO RAYS!!

The Rays Win the Pennant!

What an amazing series. What an amazing season for the Rays. And now we go to the World Series. It should be a great one, the Phillies are a very similar team in that they can beat you in a lot of ways. I’m looking forward to Game One on Wednesday night.

Rays One Win Away from World Series

Tampa took a three games to one lead in the American League Championship Series last night with an amazing 13-4 win. They have one game in Fenway tomorrow night, followed by two games in Tampa to win one and go to the World Series…with my Purdue and Auburn college football teams struggling and my Colts not looking like the Colts of recent years, being able to cheer on a great team through the baseball playoffs has been fun.

If anyone asks, why the Rays? The Montgomery Biscuits are the AA farm team for the Rays and the two young stars of the team B.J. Upton and Evan Longoria spent significant time here on their way to the majors.

Rays Eke One Out

I watched Game 2 of the Rays-Red Sox ALCS from the 6th inning on last night…very impressive win for the Rays, but they burned through a lot of arms in the bullpen. Hopefully, we can get a lot of innings out of Garza tomorrow against Lester. I expect a Game 3 that looks a lot like Game 1. I’ll take another split in the next two, but beating Lester would be a huge win for the Rays.

ALCS Pitching Match-Ups

Game 1: Daisuke Matsuzaka - James Shields
Game 2: Josh Beckett - Scott Kazmir
Game 3: Jon Lester - Matt Garza
Game 4: Tim Wakefield - Andy Sonnastine
Game 5*: Daisuke Matsuzaka - James Shields
Game 6*: Josh Beckett - Scott Kazmir
Game 7*: Jon Lester - Matt Garza

*If Necessary

I don’t like the look of that Game 3 match-up, as strong as Lester was in the Angels series, but if we’re going to send someone up against him, I think it’s smart for it to be Garza. Kaz or Shields could pitch lights out against that guy and still lose. It lines up well for serve to hold through the first four games…we’ll see.

Way to Go Rays!

Rays Get the Early Games

The first two playoff games in Tampa Bay Rays history now have times, Game 1 will be Thursday at 2:30pm eastern and Game 2 will be Friday at 6pm eastern. We still don’t know who they’ll be playing, as the White Sox play a make-up game today that they must win to force a one-game playoff tomorrow with the Twins.
